I hear from people all the time who gave up on their keto lifestyle because they experienced unpleasant symptoms like headaches, muscle cramps, low energy, and sleeplessness. More often than not, the keto flu is a simple case of sodium deficiency and once you dial in your electrolyte intake the symptoms disappear.

Why do low-carbers need so much sodium?
And if you’re eating a diet mostly of whole foods, you’re likely not consuming much sodium. According to the FDA, over 70% of sodium in American diets comes from processed foods.
This chain of events creates the perfect storm of keto flu symptoms and is the #1 most common mistake for those new to a low-carb or ketogenic diet.
I won’t bore you any further with the science, but you get the point: low-carb dieters need extra sodium to avoid the unpleasant side effects.
We created LMNT because we were frustrated with the lack of healthy options on the marketRobb Wolf, Co-Founder of Drink LMNT
When I first adopted a ketogenic diet 20 years ago, I didn’t take electrolyte supplementation seriously and I suffered for it. The keto flu held me back from doing what I truly enjoy - being a dad to Zoe and Sagan, being a husband to Nicki, and growing as a BJJ athlete.
When I finally listened to my coaches and dialed in my electrolytes, I felt the benefits immediately. I was sleeping better, my brain was functioning on new levels, and I had more energy on the BJJ mat.

One problem: I couldn’t use or recommend any electrolyte product on the market. They were woefully lacking in electrolytes and typically loaded with sugar, artificial ingredients, and other dodgy ingredients.
After years of making DIY electrolyte homebrews, I teamed up with my coaches, Tyler and Luis, to create LMNT Recharge - a tasty electrolyte drink mix with no sugar, no coloring, no junk, and a science-backed electrolyte ratio.
My favorite flavors are Raspberry Salt and Orange Salt - and I enjoy Citrus Salt for the occasional no sugar NorCal Margarita!
