Proper hydration is critical for optimizing mental and physical performance.
Hydration is not just about drinking enough water - to stay properly hydrated you need to consume adequate electrolytes. They help your nerve impulses fire, regulate fluid balance, help produce energy, and support strong bones.

One article in the Journal of Sport Science reported:
“Vigorous exercise and warm/hot weather induce sweat production, which contains both water and electrolytes. Daily water (4-10 L) and sodium (3500-7000 mg) losses in active athletes during hot weather exposure can induce water and electrolyte deficits…”
When you’re physically active and sweat, replacing lost sodium is essential to feel and perform your best. But many athletes forget about sodium and drink more water when they feel dehydrated - the more common problem for these folks is drinking too much water, not too little. Overwatering dilutes blood sodium levels, causing a dangerous condition called hyponatremia - which can lead to headaches, muscle cramps, and fatigue.
But this doesn’t mean that you should avoid drinking water - you won’t last very long without it. Hydration is quite simple: drink to thirst, and don’t forget to replace electrolytes. Paying attention to our electrolyte intake is critical for optimal performance - and our needs increase even more when we sweat.
We developed LMNT because we were frustrated with a lack of healthy options on the market.Robb Wolf, Co-Founder of LMNT
No matter which continent I’m leaving my footprints on, proper hydration remains the key to my endurance and success. Ultra marathons are long and grueling, making me susceptible to dehydration, cramping, and fatigue - it’s extremely critical that I replenish my electrolytes before, during, and after a race.

LMNT has become my go to drink for hydration during races and workouts. Once I ditched the sugary sports drinks and started drinking LMNT, my endurance and recovery have noticeably improved - it contains none of the sugar, artificial ingredients, or other junk that used to negatively impact my ability to perform.
My favorite flavor is Raspberry Salt but for race days I like to combine Raspberry and Citrus Salt together in an oversized cooler for a dynamite raspberry-citrus mix. LMNT is easily the best way to stay hydrated while I'm out pushing my limits.
